A flat target rate forces you to guess one number. If it’s too high, a carrier accepts right away and you may overpay. If it’s too low, the load can sit unbooked. With Dynamic Target Rate in ShipperGuide, you set a rate range instead. ShipperGuide raises the offer in timed steps, only as far as needed, and automatically tenders any lower rate a carrier offers along the way.

Step-by-Step Instructions
- In ShipperGuide, go to the quote where you want to use Dynamic Target Rate.
- Click the pencil button on the right side of Target Rate.
- Click Dynamic rate, then set your floor and ceiling rates.
- Set the Bid deadline.
- Set the escalation waves.
- ShipperGuide shows the total spend, the interval per wave and the increments. Review them, then confirm.
What happens next: bid interception
While a Dynamic Target Rate is running, ShipperGuide doesn’t just wait for a carrier to accept the current offer. It also checks for counteroffers in between waves. If a carrier offers a rate below the next scheduled step, ShipperGuide automatically sends the tender at that lower rate. For example, if the next step is $1,290 and a carrier offers $1,250, the tender goes out at $1,250.
FAQ
1. Does the carrier see the ceiling rate?
No. Carriers only see the floor as the Book It Now price. The ceiling is entirely internal to your configuration.
2. Is there a minimum gap required between floor and ceiling?
There is no enforced minimum gap, but we recommend leaving meaningful room, typically at least 10–20%, so that bid ranking has a useful range to work with.
3. Can I still manually award a load at any time?
Yes. The automatic bid ranking at the deadline is a default behavior, but you keep full control to manually award, re-post, or decline bids at any point.
