[Opendock] Gate Insights: Track Carrier Self Check-In Adoption and Yard Dwell Time

Gate Insights gives warehouses a clear view of how carriers are using self check-in and how long drivers spend in the yard once they arrive. Instead of digging through individual appointments, Opendock now surfaces this data in one dashboard so you can spot adoption gaps and yard bottlenecks at a glance.

Accessing Gate Insights

  1. From the left-side menu, go to Insights.
  2. Click the Gate Insights tab.

What you'll see

  • Self Check-In Adoption by Carrier — the percentage of arrivals where the carrier used the self check-in flow (QR code / kiosk) versus being checked in manually by warehouse staff. Use this to identify which carriers still need a nudge to adopt self check-in.
  • Time in Yard — how long drivers stay in your yard from check-in to check-out, so you can spot facilities or shifts with longer-than-expected dwell times.
  • Use the date range filter to narrow the view to a specific week, month, or custom period.
  • Filter by warehouse if your organization manages multiple facilities, to compare adoption and dwell time across sites.

FAQ

Q: Who can see Gate Insights?
A: It's available to warehouse users with access to the Insights page, the same permission level used for Carrier Insights and Warehouse Insights.

Q: Does this replace Carrier Insights or Warehouse Insights?
A: No — Gate Insights is a separate tab focused specifically on self check-in adoption and yard dwell time. Carrier Insights and Warehouse Insights continue to cover their existing metrics.

Q: Why would a carrier show low self check-in adoption?
A: Usually because drivers are being checked in manually by warehouse staff instead of using the QR code/kiosk flow. Reviewing your Gate Management check-in instructions and notifications with that carrier can help increase adoption.

Q: Is Gate Insights available to all Gate Management warehouses?
A: Yes, it's rolled out to all Gate Management-enabled warehouses.
