π Opendock β July 2026 Release Notes
This month's release is all about giving drivers and yard teams information without making anyone chase it down. We shipped the first pieces of hands off SMS/WhatsApp communication with drivers, a brand new mobile workflow for yard checks, and a round of scheduling flexibility upgrades, alongside 55+ bug fixes and a big push on translation accuracy across the platform.
ποΈ What's New
Features and enhancements are organized by the three core areas of the Opendock platform. Each update includes what changed, the problem it solves, the value it adds, and where to find it.
πͺ Gate
Automated SMS & WhatsApp Driver Notifications
What changed
We added automatic SMS and WhatsApp messages to drivers at the moments that matter most: when they check in, when their appointment moves to In Progress or Completed, and when a drop load's asset is ready for pickup, including a Yard Map image sent straight to their phone. Two way SMS/WhatsApp now also translates automatically, so messages arrive in the driver's language.
Problem it solves
Once a driver checked in, they had no way to know what was happening next unless a warehouse staff member walked them through it, which meant repeat calls asking "where do I go" and miscommunication at the gate that could add to dwell time.
Value it adds
Drivers get real time status by text without staff intervention, cutting down on miscommunication at the gate and giving warehouses a real lever on dwell time and claims. This is being piloted with a small set of customers before wider rollout.

Check-Out Flow Enhancements
What changed
We added follow-up improvements to the Check-Out experience released earlier this year, including better flow and tab management and a cleaner edit-field modal.
Problem it solves
Early Check-Out users ran into a few rough edges managing flows and editing fields after the initial release.
Value it adds
A smoother, more reliable check-out experience with fewer clicks and less friction for gate staff.

Easier Language Switching at Check-In
What changed
The language selector at check-in is now bigger, clearly labeled, and takes effect immediately, no more refreshing the page for a language change to apply.
Problem it solves
Drivers who didn't read English struggled to find the language switcher, and even when they did, the dropdown didn't always work without a refresh.
Value it adds
Faster, friendlier check-in for non-English-speaking drivers, with one less support headache for gate staff.
Where to access
Available automatically on the Check-In kiosk screen, no setup required.
π Yard
Yard Check Tasks: Mobile Inventory & Area Checks
What changed
We launched Check Tasks, a new mobile-first workflow for yard staff to run structured Area Checks (zone-level) and Inventory Checks (asset-level: location, status, and condition) right from the yard floor, with the ability to log a check as confirmed or missing.
Problem it solves
Most yards today track checks with paper, spreadsheets, or institutional memory. That makes audits slow, error-prone, and hard to verify after the fact.
Value it adds
Yard audits move from a manual, error-prone process to a guided, trackable workflow on the device staff already carry. Currently in beta with a small group of customers.

Open Task Counts on Yard Spots
What changed
Assigned spots on the Yard grid now show a badge with the number of open Move and Check tasks tied to that asset, and hovering the spot lists the reference numbers for each.
Problem it solves
Without a visual cue that an asset already had a task in progress, staff were creating duplicate tasks for the same truck or container.
Value it adds
Fewer duplicate tasks and less wasted effort, since staff can see at a glance whether something is already being worked.

Cancellation Reasons for Yard Tasks
What changed
Canceling a Move, Check, or driver-app task now prompts for a reason from a predefined list, which is saved and shown in the task's Comments & Activity tab.
Problem it solves
Canceled tasks left no record of why, making it hard for supervisors to spot patterns or follow up.
Value it adds
Supervisors get visibility into why tasks are being canceled, which makes it easier to catch recurring issues before they become bigger problems.

Spot History in the Yard Tooltip
What changed
Hovering an assigned spot now shows its full assignment history, including how long a truck has been there and when it moved, and the tooltip updates live without a page reload.
Problem it solves
Operators had no easy way to see dwell time or track spot moves without digging into individual asset details.
Value it adds
Faster answers to "how long has this been sitting here" without leaving the yard grid.

Opendock Portal β Yard β Yard Grid (hover any assigned spot)
Missing Assets View
What changed
Added a dedicated view that surfaces assets the system expected to be in the yard but can no longer locate.
Problem it solves
Assets could effectively disappear from tracking with no clear way for operators to flag or find them.
Value it adds
Faster identification of assets that need investigation, instead of discovering they're missing during an audit.
Where to access
Opendock Portal β Yard β List View β Missing filter
Faster Task Completion with Drag-and-Drop
What changed
Yard task cards can now be completed or canceled by dragging them into the Completed or Canceled lane (with a confirmation step), and tasks can move directly from To Do to Completed without stopping at In Progress first.
Problem it solves
Completing or canceling a task required extra clicks through menus, slowing down the most common actions on a busy yard.
Value it adds
Fewer clicks to close out routine tasks, saving time across a shift with a high task volume.
Where to access
Opendock Portal β Yard β Task Board
Smarter Yard Inventory Exports
What changed
Users can now export just the assets currently in the yard, instead of picking a date range and cleaning up the results afterward, and the List View now shows Missing assets with inline status editing.
Problem it solves
Getting a clean, current inventory spreadsheet used to require manual cleanup after every export.
Value it adds
A ready-to-use current inventory export in one click, plus faster status updates for assets flagged as missing.

π Scheduling
Edit Custom Form Fields After Booking
What changed
Carriers and warehouses can now edit custom form field answers after an appointment has already been booked, instead of being locked in at booking time.
Problem it solves
A typo or a change in load details used to mean the carrier was stuck. There was no way to correct a custom field answer once the appointment existed.
Value it adds
Fewer support requests to fix a booking, and more accurate load information reaching the warehouse before the truck arrives.
Where to access
Carrier Scheduling Portal β My Appointments β Edit
Custom Form Field Management Improvements
What changed
Warehouse admins now get more control over custom fields: per-form description overrides, the ability to safely retire a field with a confirmation step, inactive fields automatically hidden from forms, and org-level Load Types can now use custom forms.
Problem it solves
Admins previously couldn't reuse the same field with different descriptions per form, couldn't retire a field without risk, and org-level Load Types were locked out of custom forms entirely.
Value it adds
More flexible, safer field management with less risk of breaking a form that's actively in use.
Where to access
Opendock Portal β Warehouse Settings β Custom Forms
1-Hour Grid Time Intervals
What changed
The scheduling grid's time-interval setting now supports 1-hour slots, in addition to the existing 30-minute increments.
Problem it solves
Warehouses running top-of-the-hour scheduling had to work around 30-minute grid slots, adding extra clicks to book a full hour.
Value it adds
A grid that matches how the warehouse actually books appointments, with fewer clicks per booking.
βοΈ General Improvements
Performance: Resolved a reported slowdown in the Yard Management System and reduced initial page-load time by lazy-loading Yard components, working toward a sub-3-second load target.
Performance: Removed a redundant validation call during appointment booking, cutting unnecessary backend load and speeding up the booking flow.
Reliability: Fixed a recurring crash triggered when uploading more files than allowed to an appointment.
Internationalization: Fixed dozens of untranslated areas across the platform, including user invites, organization and SSO setup pages, Load Types and Docks settings, TV Mode, the appointments grid, and yard task labels. Also regenerated hundreds of missing translation entries so untranslated strings fail gracefully instead of showing blank.
UI Polish: Fixed inconsistent shadow styling across icon buttons platform-wide.
Reporting: Added an "export selected fields only" option to appointment list exports, and replaced the all-or-nothing Load Type filter in Insights exports with individual custom form fields.
Security: Closed an unauthenticated endpoint that could expose carrier password hashes, an authorization gap that allowed posting comments on other organizations' task yards, an email-enumeration issue on a public availability check, and removed session tokens from redirect URLs between portals.
π‘ For integration users: Two changes affect API behavior this month. Appointment reference numbers submitted via integration are now deduplicated server-side, so a duplicate reference string sent on create will no longer be stored as a duplicate. The
yard-task/searchendpoint has moved fromGETtoPOSTto support larger ID lists reliably. Update any direct integrations calling this endpoint to usePOSTgoing forward.
