[Opendock] Configuring Load Type Specific Fields for Appointments

  • Updated

The Load Type Specific Fields feature allows warehouses to customize appointment creation forms based on different load types, such as Inbound and Outbound. This ensures that only relevant information is collected for each type of load, improving operational efficiency and accuracy.

✅ Key Use Cases

  1. Different Information for Inbound vs. Outbound Appointments

Inbound and outbound operations often require distinct sets of information. This feature enables the creation of separate forms for each flow by selecting specific Load Types and tailoring fields accordingly.

  2. Handling Special Scenarios, e.g., High-Value Loads

For certain load types—such as high-value shipments—you may need to collect additional information like insurance documents. With this feature, you can configure forms to include specific fields only when certain Load Types are selected.

🛠️ How to Configure Load Type Specific Fields

1. Navigate to Fields & Forms

Go to:

Once the form is created, you can start adding fields:

  1. Inside the form, decide where the fields will be visible:

    • Visible to All: Shown to both warehouse users and carriers.

    • Carrier Only: Visible only when carriers create appointments via the scheduling portal.

    • Warehouse Only: Visible only to internal warehouse users.

  2. Use ”+ Add/Remove Fields to the Form” to:

    • Select an existing field.

    • Or create a new field.

  3. After adding a field:

    • Use the pencil icon to make the field required or to edit the field label.

4. Test the Form

Once your form and fields are configured:

  • Click “Preview Scheduling Portal” to simulate and test the different appointment flows based on the selected Load Type.

  • Confirm that the appropriate fields appear based on your configurations.
