The Analytics feature in NavTrac provides powerful tools for high-level data analysis, helping you gain insights into how assets move in and out of your yard. This article will guide you through how to use the Analytics page to monitor and analyze key data points such as dwell time and gate traffic volume.
Please watch the video below:
Accessing the Analytics Page
- Navigate to the Analytics Page: From your NavTrac dashboard (or SmartGate), go to the Analytics tab.
- Select Yard and Date Range: To begin your analysis, choose the yard you wish to analyze and the relevant date range. You can adjust this at the top of the page.
Key Metrics on the Analytics Page
Once you're on the Analytics page, you'll find several key data points that provide insights into your yard operations. Here’s a breakdown of the key features:
1. Dwell Time
Dwell time refers to the duration an asset stays in your yard before leaving. This is the time between when an asset enters your yard and when it departs.
- Average Dwell Time: This shows the average time different asset types spend in your yard. For example, if your chassis have an average dwell time of 1.8 days, this metric will give you a sense of how long each asset typically remains in your yard.
- Dwell Time Range: You’ll also see the range of dwell times. For example, chassis may stay between 0.1 and 4 days in your yard, while tractors may stay for a shorter period, with less fluctuation in their dwell time.
- Comparison by Asset Type: The analytics page lets you compare dwell times across different asset types. For example, you can easily see that tractors generally stay for a shorter amount of time than chassis.
2. Traffic
This metric provides insights into the volume of traffic moving through your yard gates. The data is broken down by asset type, so you can quickly identify trends in the types of assets entering and exiting your yard.
- Asset Type Traffic: For example, if you have more tractors coming in and out of your yard compared to other asset types, this will be clearly displayed. This helps you understand what types of equipment are most frequent in your yard.
How to Make the Most of the Analytics Feature
- The Analytics page allows you to see fluctuations in traffic volume over time. You can easily identify trends and make data-driven decisions on managing yard operations.
- You can change the time period you wish to analyze, and the data will update in real-time to reflect your new selection.
- You can also adjust the level of granularity (e.g., daily, weekly, or monthly views) to get a more detailed or broader perspective of your data.
