This article will explain what is SmartGate and how you can use all its features to digitize your yard.
NavTrac’s SmartGate solution uses Computer Vision and Optical Character recognition to collect all the alphanumerics off an asset as it passes through the gate. This fully automated solution delivers significantly higher data capture and accuracy, collects third party carrier data, captures time stamped images of assets and unlocks operational analytics.
NavTrac’s User Interface features a real-time searchable dashboard with time-stamped photos as well as user configurable notifications, alerts, reporting, analytics and automated EDI transmission. The platform enables operating cost reductions and provides a differentiated experience to shipping clients & partners.
Now, digitizing your yard operations is easier than you think. With NavTrac, you can save time and money with an automated yard management solution.

What are the main features of SmartGate?
Accuracy
99.8% Yard Visibility for precise asset tracking without manual intervention. NavTrac captures all this information via imaging rather than relying on GPS, RFID, or other hardware tracking infrastructure.
Dashboard Overview
The Gate Feed is the main landing page for the NavTrac dashboard.
It provides a live feed of all trucks as they enter and exit the yard/facility. Each observation includes date, time and direction as well as a myriad of other data fields that are selectable in the page settings (see note D below). Cameras capture every vehicle Class 2B through Class 8. This includes service vehicles and box trucks. New observations are populated in about 1 minute of entering or exiting the facility.
The Yard Report provides a view of all the assets that are currently in your yard. Any part of the asset that has left the yard will be shown in a faded gray text color.
Note: If you'd like to view both ingates and outgates, you can see this information on the Gate Feed.
Security & Time-stamped photo evidence
NavTrac provides 360 degree high definition images of every asset for every observation captured during the day and at night. Now, you have access to up-close pictures of all assets. This is especially helpful in the event you need to fight a damage claim, per diem, or confirm with a customer that a load was received.
When you download the image, you will receive the date, timestamp in local time, and location.
Inventory Reporting
In both the Gate Feed and Reports tabs, you have the ability to export your view.
In the Gate Feed, you can download all the observations into an Excel file. We have many customers that use this file for additional reporting purposes. For instance, if you want to know volume or looking at how many assets a certain carrier entered your facility, you can send that off to your tenants or customers. Again, it will download all observations for the entire history so it's important to select dates for filtering purposes.
The Reports tab also has a feature providing a snapshot of your inventory at your facility at a moment in time. Current customers manually review the Yard report weekly and make some edits to it to ensure it is up-to-date. See the 'How do I edit an observation?' article.
Bare Chassis Reporting
You can sort the "Chassis is Bare" field in the yard report to pull all bare chassis to the top of the page.
