[ShipperGuide] How do I extend the deadline for a published/closed RFP?

  • Updated

Sometimes carriers need a little more time to submit their bids on an RFP (Request for Proposal) — even after it has already been published or closed. ShipperGuide makes it easy to extend the bid deadline directly from the RFP details, without creating a new RFP from scratch. This article walks you through the steps to update the deadline on an existing RFP in ShipperGuide.

To extend the bid deadline:

1. On the left sidebar menu of your ShipperGuide account, go to Procure tab, then select RFP Guide from the dropdown menu. Click on the RFP you want to update:

2. On the RFP´s main page, click in the upper right corner, then select Edit Details from the dropdown menu:

3. On the RFP Details page, scroll to the Carrier deadlines session. Under Carrier deadlines, enter the new deadline date and time:

4. Scroll to the botton of the page and hit Save RFP:

Important note: If the RFP was already closed, extending the deadline reopens it for all the invited carrier - not only for a few ones. Be sure to notify carriers directly that the RFP has been reopened, since ShipperGuide does not send this notification automatically.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I extend the deadline on an RFP that's already closed?
A: Yes. Updating the Bids deadline field on a closed RFP automatically reopens it, allowing carriers to submit or revise their proposals.

Q: Will carriers be notified automatically when I extend the deadline?
A: No. ShipperGuide does not send an automatic notification. You'll need to reach out to carriers directly to let them know the RFP is open again.

Q: Can I extend the deadline for only some carriers, not all?
A: No. Updating the Bids deadline reopens the RFP for all invited carriers — it isn't possible to extend the deadline for a select group only.

Q: Where do I find the Edit Details option?
A: From the RFP's main page, click More in the upper right corner, then select Edit Details.

Q: What happens if I don't click Save RFP after changing the deadline?
A: Your changes won't be applied. Always scroll to the bottom of the Edit Details page and click Save RFP to confirm the new deadline.
