[Opendock] Unique PO/BOL/Reference Number on Nova

Warehouses can require unique PO, BOL, or Reference Numbers for carriers by adjusting the Org Settings in Nova.

Key Considerations

📌 Important: To enforce uniqueness, always use the Reference Number field in Org Settings or Warehouse Settings. Do not use the custom appointment fields, as they do not support unique values.

📌 Note: Reference Numbers assigned to canceled or no-show appointments may be reused for new appointments. For PO validation details, check out this article.

How to Enable Unique PO/BOL/Reference Numbers

Via Org Settings

  1. Go to My Organization.
  2. Click on Org Settings.
  3. Locate the Reference Number drop-down.
  4. Select YES for "Include Reference Number field on all appointment forms?"
  5. Enter a Display Name for the field.
  6. (Optional) Add Helper Text to provide guidance.
  7. Select YES for "Require Unique Reference Numbers" to ensure no duplicates.
  8. Click Save Org Settings to apply changes.

 

Via Warehouse Settings

  1. Go to My Organization.
  2. Select the Warehouse you want to configure.
  3. Click on Warehouse Settings.
  4. Locate the Reference Number field settings.
  5. Enable "Require Unique Reference Numbers" for that specific warehouse.
  6. Save changes.

 

Once enabled, Nova will automatically enforce uniqueness for PO, BOL, or Reference Numbers on all appointments.
